Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an effort to raise awareness and reduce the stigma of breast cancer through education on symptoms and treatment.
This October, Rutkoski Fencing & Merut Construction are taking on the fight against breast cancer. We have created the ‘You can make a difference’ campaign, so that we can raise funds to stop this disease. Together we have currently raised $1,335 to donate to Susan G. Komen organization, the worlds’ largest and most impactful non-profit supporter of breast cancer research. Susan G. Komen provides education, screening and treatment programs for women and men in our community, and supports cutting-edge research so that one day we can live in a world without breast cancer.
Greater knowledge will lead to earlier detection of breast cancer, which is associated with higher long-term survival rates, and that money raised for breast cancer will produce a reliable, permanent cure.
Breast cancer deaths have been declining since 1990 thanks to early detection, better screening, increased awareness, and new treatment options
In the US, 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. But it doesn’t just affect women. A man’s lifetime risk of breast cancer is about 1 in 1,000.
There are more than 3.5 million breast cancer survivors — the largest group of all cancer survivors.
Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death among women in the US and the first leading cause of cancer death among women globally.
